February 28, 2010, is RARE DISEASE DAY, a series of events in Basel and Zurich designed to raise awareness among the general public about rare diseases and their impact on people’s lives. Throughout the day there will be special celebrity appearances and prizes given away, as well as a children‘s art display. Food vendors will be on site to ensure that the public has healthy eating options. The day’s events will feature a symposium featuring researchers, physicians, companies and politicians talking about strengthening the research efforts in Switzerland for rare diseases.

Funds raised by the event will be used to support rare disease research in Switzerland.
